Landsail IceDragon – 24-Row Studded Winter Tyre
A new passenger-car studded tyre is joining the Landsail winter tyre range. The IceDragon has been developed for demanding Nordic winter conditions, with a strong focus on dependable ice grip.
Its key feature is a stud layout that creates 24 separate contact rows across the tread. Combined with dense wave-shaped siping and a directional V-shaped pattern, this gives the tyre the tools needed for ice, packed snow, loose snow and slush.
24 stud rows for confident ice grip
The studs in the IceDragon tread are arranged into 24 distinct contact rows. This does not mean that the tyre has only 24 studs. Instead, it describes the different lines along which the studs engage with the road as the tyre rotates.
The studs are distributed across the full width of the tread. They can be found in the central blocks, intermediate tread zones and closer to the shoulders. This allows a wider area of the contact patch to contribute to grip instead of concentrating the studs in just one part of the tyre.
The central studs support traction during acceleration and braking, while the studs positioned further towards the shoulders help maintain lateral grip when cornering or changing direction.
The aim is clear: to create consistent mechanical contact with icy surfaces in a wide range of driving situations.
Ice performance supported by dense siping
The IceDragon does not rely on metal studs alone. Every main section of the tread features a dense network of wave-shaped sipes.
As the tread blocks enter the contact patch, the sipes open and create numerous additional gripping edges. These edges help the tyre bite into packed snow and icy surfaces, including the areas between the studs.
Their wave-shaped design also helps control excessive tread-block movement. This allows the blocks to remain more stable during braking and steering while still providing the flexibility needed to form additional contact edges.
IceDragon therefore combines three key elements for winter grip:
metal studs arranged into 24 contact rows;
dense wave-shaped siping across the tread;
sharp-edged directional tread blocks.
Directional V-shaped tread for snow and slush
IceDragon features a clearly directional V-shaped tread pattern. The blocks meet at a sharp angle in the centre, creating a structure designed to work efficiently in the tyre’s direction of rotation.
Channels opening from the centre towards the shoulders help move water and slush away from the contact patch. Wider spaces between the blocks provide room for the tread to work in loose snow and support the tyre’s self-cleaning ability.
The broader shoulder blocks add stability during cornering and quick direction changes. As the stud layout also extends towards the shoulder areas, ice grip is not limited to the centre of the tread.
Together, the directional channels, open tread structure and wide stud distribution allow the IceDragon to respond to the rapidly changing road conditions typical of Estonian and Nordic winters.
What do the IceDragon sidewall markings confirm?
The tyre sidewall provides several important details about the model:
M+S indicates that the tyre is intended for mud and snow conditions;
3PMSF, or the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol, confirms that the tyre has met the required performance level in a standardised severe-snow test;
MADE IN MOROCCO identifies the tyre’s country of manufacture.
The 3PMSF marking confirms tested snow performance. On ice, the IceDragon’s main technical advantage comes from the mechanical grip provided by its studs, supported by the dense siping and sharp tread edges.

Manufactured at Sentury’s new plant in Morocco
The MADE IN MOROCCO marking confirms that the IceDragon is produced at the new Moroccan manufacturing facility operated by Qingdao Sentury Tire Co., Ltd., the company behind the Landsail brand.
Sentury uses automated production systems, digital process management and quality monitoring throughout its Smart 4.0 factories. The Moroccan facility complements the company’s existing production operations in China and Thailand while increasing manufacturing capacity for the European market.
IceDragon therefore combines Landsail’s tyre development expertise with the production capabilities of Sentury’s newest factory.
Developed with Euro 7 requirements in mind
According to the manufacturer, IceDragon has been developed to meet the applicable Euro 7 requirements.
For tyres, Euro 7 places particular emphasis on particles released through tread wear and the resulting environmental impact. Tyre development must therefore balance grip, durability and controlled wear.
In the IceDragon, the objective is to combine the strong ice performance required in Nordic winters with the wear and environmental considerations expected from a new-generation tyre.
Who is the Landsail IceDragon designed for?
IceDragon is aimed at drivers who regularly encounter icy or snow-covered roads and value the additional security provided by a studded winter tyre.
It is particularly well suited to changeable winter conditions, where wet asphalt, slush, packed snow and ice may all appear during the same journey. The 24 stud rows provide mechanical grip on ice, the dense siping and tread edges work on snow, and the directional V-shaped channels help clear water and slush.
The Landsail IceDragon will be available soon as a competitively priced alternative for drivers looking for dependable Nordic winter performance.
